This year's science fair--Invention Convention--will be held on Friday, 16 November. Students will create an invention designed to solve a problem they've identified.
Today in class, I gave students a science fair journal in which they can brainstorm ideas, plan their work, sketch their product, and write background information and any research they choose to undertake.
The project is broken down into smaller segments, so no student should be spending late nights working frantically on the project. Here are some key due dates along the way:
I'll be providing students with handouts that detail exactly what is due at each stage. For stage one, students will need to come up with two or three ideas for inventions. For each idea they'll need to
We will have time in class next week to work on elements of stage one, but if inspiration strikes this weekend, students are encouraged to start their science fair journals.
